Winners will be announced at a Dec. 4 awards ceremony in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McGuireWoods was shortlisted in the \u201cInnovative Lawyers in Energy Transition\u201d category for helping Dominion Energy Virginia secure approvals for the nation\u2019s largest offshore wind energy project. Dominion\u2019s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project will be the first installed in federal waters and the first owned by an electric utility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McGuireWoods and its public affairs arm, McGuireWoods Consulting, assisted Dominion Energy in all aspects of the landmark project, including legislative consulting, securing key regulatory approvals, and executing construction and equipment contracts with global suppliers in a volatile economy. The project is expected to generate enough clean energy to power up to 660,000 homes while avoiding or displacing as much as 5 million metric tons of carbon emissions annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M&amp;A partners <a data-link-post-id=\"1305\" data-link-blog-id=\"2\">Patrick Horne<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/k\/samuel-f-kettering\">Samuel Kettering<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/l\/jude-n-leblanc\">Jude Leblanc<\/a> led the McGuireWoods team negotiating construction and equipment contracts that contain important protections for Dominion Energy and its customers. They were supported by counsel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/n\/najwan-nayef\">Najwan Nayef<\/a> and associates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/a\/chris-alderman\">Chris Alderman<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/b\/emily-g-blair\">Emily Blair<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regulatory partners <a data-link-post-id=\"0\" data-link-blog-id=\"2\">Joseph K. Reid III<\/a> and <a data-link-post-id=\"0\" data-link-blog-id=\"2\">Vishwa Link<\/a> assisted the company in securing regulatory approvals from the Virginia State Corporation Commission.&nbsp;They were supported by counsel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/v\/jennifer-dvorak-valaika\/\">Jennifer Dvorak Valaika<\/a> and associates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/p\/timothy-d-patterson\/\">Timothy Patterson<\/a> and <a data-link-post-id=\"654\" data-link-blog-id=\"2\">Benjamin Shute<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firm also was shortlisted in <em>FT<\/em>\u2019s \u201cInnovative Lawyers in Deals and Financing\u201d category for its work creating an \u201cinnovation district\u201d for George Mason University to support Amazon\u2019s second headquarters in Northern Virginia. McGuireWoods was selected as special counsel to devise a public-private partnership for development of George Mason\u2019s Institute for Digital InnovAtion (IDIA), which helped attract Amazon\u2019s HQ2 to Northern Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McGuireWoods partners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/p\/edmund-s-pittman\">Edmund S. Pittman<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/m\/george-keith-martin\">George Keith Martin<\/a> led the team that created the complex and creative development agreements enabling the IDIA project to proceed.
