Bubar<\/a>, a veteran federal prosecutor who held senior leadership roles in U.S. Attorney\u2019s Offices in North Carolina and Virginia. Bubar joins the firm in Raleigh and Richmond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bubar comes to McGuireWoods after serving as Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina from February 2025 to August 2025. Before that, he was the office\u2019s First Assistant under then-U.S. Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/e\/michael-f-easley\/\">Michael F. Easley Jr.<\/a>, who returned to McGuireWoods as a partner in March 2025. Bubar also held senior roles in the U.S. Attorney\u2019s office in the Western District of Virginia and served as Acting U.S. Attorney in that district from September 2020 to October 2021, and First Assistant from 2018 to December 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During his 15-year career in the Department of Justice, Bubar led and supervised some of the most complex criminal and civil matters in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. He directed investigations involving national security, healthcare fraud and white collar offenses; argued appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; and managed districtwide initiatives that drove significant public safety gains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDan\u2019s experience leading high-stakes investigations and prosecutions and his understanding of criminal and civil enforcement provide powerful advantages for clients who face scrutiny on multiple fronts,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/k\/noreen-a-kelly\/\">Noreen Kelly<\/a>, McGuireWoods\u2019 deputy managing partner for litigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bubar joins a wave of top-tier federal prosecutors who joined McGuireWoods in 2025, including Easley in Raleigh, former U.S. Attorneys <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/people\/b\/ryan-k-buchanan\/\">Ryan K.
