{"id":98899,"date":"2025-12-17T17:17:49","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T22:17:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/?post_type=news&#038;p=98899"},"modified":"2025-12-17T17:19:32","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T22:19:32","slug":"mcguirewoods-advises-nisource-on-transformative-transactions-to-power-data-center-growth","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.mcguirewoods.com\/news\/press-releases\/2025\/12\/mcguirewoods-advises-nisource-on-transformative-transactions-to-power-data-center-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"McGuireWoods Advises NiSource on Transformative Transactions to Power Data Center Growth"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>McGuireWoods served as legal adviser to NiSource Inc., one the nation\u2019s largest fully regulated utility companies, and its subsidiaries in developing an innovative model to meet the surging energy demands of the data center industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firm advised NiSource Inc.\u2019s subsidiary Northern Indiana Public Service Company LLC (NIPSCO) and its new subsidiary NIPSCO Generation LLC (GenCo) in structuring a groundbreaking electric service agreement with Amazon to supply up to 3 gigawatts of capacity for Amazon data center sites in NIPSCO\u2019s Northern Indiana service territory.&nbsp;McGuireWoods also assisted with securing equity financing arrangements and led negotiations for all construction and power purchase agreements for the generation facilities that will provide the required capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GenCo and NIPSCO\u2019s first major partnership represents a nearly $7 billion investment in energy infrastructure to power Amazon\u2019s development of multibillion-dollar data center campuses.
